Kasha: apple and pumpkin porridge, the Russian breakfast

  • 150 gr. risotto rice
  • 1 grated apple
  • ½ cup grated pumpkin
  • ½ cup milk
  • Sugar, butter, vanilla

How to

  1. Brown the apple and the pumpkin in a bowl with a pat of butter.
  2. Add the rice, mix it well with the pumpkin and apple, cover with water and stir occasionally. If necessary add water until the rice is tender to the right extent.
  3. When the rice is almost ready add milk, sugar and vanilla and allow it to thicken for a minute.
