Kasha: apple and pumpkin porridge, the Russian breakfast
- 150 gr. risotto rice
- 1 grated apple
- ½ cup grated pumpkin
- ½ cup milk
- Sugar, butter, vanilla
- Brown the apple and the pumpkin in a bowl with a pat of butter.
- Add the rice, mix it well with the pumpkin and apple, cover with water and stir occasionally. If necessary add water until the rice is tender to the right extent.
- When the rice is almost ready add milk, sugar and vanilla and allow it to thicken for a minute.
